2.1. BI Data Hub

The BI Data Hub is a customer's central starting point for targeted reporting and analytics of its e-commerce system. The Data Hub imports data from source systems as well as prepares, transforms, stores and offers data for evaluation with BI systems. In order to offer the customer a OOTB experience, ready-to-use Microsoft Power BI business reports are shared with customers in Power BI. Since BI Data Hub is a multi-tenant service, the complete on-boarding process is been done by configuration.

The connected data sources, BI Data Hub's functionality and the available Power BI report templates underlay ongoing and continuous development.

2.2. Multi-tenancy

The term "software multi-tenancy" refers to a software architecture in which a single instance of software runs on a server and serves multiple tenants. Systems designed in such manner are often called shared (in contrast to dedicated or isolated). A tenant is a group of users who share a common access with specific privileges to the software instance. With a multi-tenant architecture, a software application is designed to provide every tenant a dedicated share of the instance - including its data, configuration, user management, tenant individual functionality and non-functional properties. Multi-tenancy contrasts with multi-instance architectures, where separate software instances operate on behalf of different tenants.
